11. The Book of Rules

The Amish community has so many rules to remember! Fortunately, they have a book to list them all. Amish have two essential texts in their lives: the Bible and the Ordnung. The latter is the book they live by, and it actually means order or discipline in German.
Basically, the Ordnung is a guide to Amish people that states what they are and are not allowed to do. So, they use it as a framework on how to live everyday life. Moreover, the Amish community takes the Ordnung book very seriously, and if you break one of its rules, you will receive a punishment. However, it also gives them great financial advice to learn how to harvest their earnings properly.
