Financial and Life Lessons You Can Learn From The Amish
Did you know there are many lessons you can learn from the Amish? From cooking to working and more learn how they live…
12. Meidung Means, Youāre Out
While the Amish have restrictions on their lifestyles and habits, they are also surprisingly permissive. They allow every individual to come to their own conclusions about what the code means to them. Still, they do have a system for those who violate the Ordnung. And it is something they donāt take lightly.
As mentioned before, the Ordnung is a sacred book for the Amish, and if someone is found to violate its ethics code, there are serious consequences. The worst of them all, by far, is the āMeidung.ā It means that someone from the community broke one of the most important codes. The result is to become wholly shunned by the Amish community. Of course, we would never recommend shunning a family member or friend. However, its always good to know what your breaking point is, just like the Amish!
