Dick Lane spent four years in the Army before he walked into the front office of the Los Angeles Rams in 1952 and asked them if they could give him a job playing football. Believe it or not, he actually made the team, and Dick “Night Train” Lane would become one of the most prolific defensive backs during the 1950s and 1960s. In fact, he even became a Hall of Fame member!
After a long-running career, Lane went through some difficult times. Unfortunately, he found comfort in drinking, not to mention he got himself involved in bar business deals and illicit drugs. As a result, Lane ended up losing the majority of his wealth and went broke!
