Harvey Martin – Unpaid Taxes
Harvey Martin was a professional NFL player who was a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys from 1973 until 1983. Following his retirement in 1984, Martin served as an NFL analyst for NBC and appeared several times in World Class Championship Wrestling as a ringside commentator. However, on the side, Martin led a life full of luxury and parties.
Before long, the IRS demanded a quarter of a million dollars in unpaid taxes and even threatened to throw him into jail. Meanwhile, his nightclub and five restaurants collapsed and 11 lawsuits were filed against him. Soon enough, he went nearly $612,000 in debt and declared bankruptcy. To make matters even worse, Martin was fired from his sportscasting job on Dallas’ Channel 5 and lost his defensive captaincy of the Cowboys.
