Rick Wise – Poor Spending Habits

MLB

Rick Wise never stand a chance at making the Hall of Fame, but he still compiled an impressive resume. Besides a 3.69 ERA and 1,647 strikeouts over 18-year-long career, Wise also tossed a no-hitter – in which he homered twice. What’s more, Wise was a two-time All-Star as well as the winning pitcher in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series – often referred to be the greatest baseball game in history.

However, Wise left his finances in the hands of “superagent” LaRue Harcourt, who made several questionable investments decisions, leaving Wise n the hook with the IRS for $1 million. By the time he emerged from bankruptcy in 1990 (eight years into retirement), he, unfortunately, had only $11,600 left.
