Steak and Ale opened as a “new type of restaurant” to dine at. Founded in 1966 in Dallas, it was branded as a cheap and affordable steak restaurant, in comparison to expensive steakhouses. It became instantly popular, especially among business people. They especially loved the salad bar that came with every cheap steak.

However, over time, those once-expensive steakhouses started lowering their prices. Steak and Ale tried to keep up with the competition, even offering free beverages and dessert as well at one point. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. The last Steak and Ale location was closed back in 2008. However, back in 2017, Steak and Ale’s parent company started offering franchise opportunities once again. Who knows? A revival might be underway!
