The Most Famous Restaurant Chains That Failed (For Good Reasons!)
Ever wonder why famous failed restaurant chains like Howard Johnson’s and D’Lites went under? Find out here!
8. White Tower
If you think White Tower looks oddly familiar, that’s because it was nothing more than a ripoff of White Castle. While Castle came along in 1921 and then, in 1922, White Tower opened. And, believe it or not, the company took more than just White Castle’s name and look…
In fact, White Tower took pretty much everything except for the kitchen sink from Castle. Everything, the menu, outfits, even ads, looked exactly the same. Still, by the mid-50s, over 230 White Tower locations existed. The failed restaurant chain even had a good run! The last site closed back in 2004.
