25. Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouse
Yes, the Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouse failed restaurant chains really did earn their fame off the back of the hit classic TV show, Bonanza. Created and opened by Bonanza actor Dan Blocker, the chain’s locations offered steaks, chicken entrees, and seafood, all of which came with a side buffet. There’s no doubt that meals were hearty at the Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses!
During the ’70s, the chain’s prime, they managed to open about 600 different locations of Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses. However, as the popularity of buffets dwindled, so too did sales.
