The Most Famous Restaurant Chains That Failed (For Good Reasons!)
Ever wonder why famous failed restaurant chains like Howard Johnson’s and D’Lites went under? Find out here!
27. Valle’s Steak House
Once upon a time, Valle’s Steak House was a household name, given its 67-year-run. Like Steak and Ale, Valle’s Steak House set itself apart from other steak restaurants by offering a similar menu, steak, baked potatoes, salad, and so on, at a much lower price. As such, Valle’s Steak House boomed in the ’60s and ’70s. No one could have predicted that by the 2000s, the brand would no longer exist.
Despite their enormous success, when its founder Donald Valle died back in 1977, his family needed to liquidate the business due to inheritance taxes. That, along with a faltering economy, poor adaptability, and high running costs, eventually put Valle’s Steak House onto the long list of failed restaurant chains.
