The Most Famous Restaurant Chains That Failed (For Good Reasons!)
Ever wonder why famous failed restaurant chains like Howard Johnson’s and D’Lites went under? Find out here!
29. Bob’s Big Boy
Bob’s Big Boy became an American national symbol in the 20th century, thanks to its famous Big Boy statues situated in front of every restaurant. Not only that, but the chain also dotted freeways all around the country, making them a road trip staple. During Bob’s Big Boy heyday, over 200 locations operated daily across the United States.
Bob’s Big Boy was most famous for its “Big Boy Burgers,” which included two hamburger patties and three buns. In fact, many accused McDonald’s of stealing their Big Mac idea from the company! Today, fewer than half of Bob’s Big Boy’s locations remain open. So if you ever want to try their famous Big Boy burger, you can find them in Michigan and Southern California.
