An American restaurant making Irish food, Bennigan’s was founded back in 1976 in Atlanta, Georgia. The for the chain of restaurants came from Norman Brinker, vice president of Steak and Ale, another failed restaurant chain. However, Brinker felt disaster coming at Bennigan’s and led an exodus from the company back in 1983. Those who followed his lead went on to create Chili’s, Brinker’s greatest success.

Unfortunately, Bennigan’s suffered due to the lack of brand loyalty. You see, even today, there are plenty of other restaurants offering the same style and menu at a lower cost. Before long, Bennigan’s locations in the U.S. and abroad began to close their doors. Nowadays, only about 23 sites remain open in the United States
