“What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes (1993)

Believe it or not, the hit ’90s classic “What’s Up?,” by 4 Non Blondes, doesn’t actually have the words “what’s up” in it. Go listen, it’s true! Instead, lead singer Linda Perry belts “What’s going on?” in the chorus. However, to not confuse people with the iconic Marvin Gaye ballad, the band named the song “What’s Up?” Regardless of the title, the song became a massive hit in the United States.
Sadly, 4 Non Blondes was not meant for this world, as they broke up less than a year after “What’s Up?” tore up the charts. While Perry has enjoyed a successful solo career, nothing has ever quite hit the level of “What’s Up?”
