Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z., grew up poor and fatherless in the Marcy Projects of Brooklyn, New York. However, ever since he was a little boy, Jay-Z felt a deep connection and passion for music. In fact, his mother said he often woke everyone up in the two-bedroom loft, drumming beats into the kitchen table and rapping.
Of course, those talents led to Jay-Z becoming a famous rapper, producer, and now, investor. Some of his business ventures include owning a stake in the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, Uber, and invest in real estate, liquor, and art. Furthermore, Jay-Z even started Tidal, a music streaming company valued at $100 million. So it’s no surprise his current net worth stands at $1 billion!
